The latest issue of Care of the Critically Ill (December 2008 – but only just out!) has a useful review of sedation and delirium assessment in the ICU. As you would expect it explains why brain monitoring is so important in our patients and outlines the sedation and delirium screening tools available. This journal is targeted at the multi-disciplinary critical care team and written with that in mind.
Beg, steal or better borrow a copy.

The 2009 International Delirium Congress arranged by the European Delirium Association (see links on this site) will be in Leeds. So put the dates in your diary now – October 8th and 9th. The provisional programme will be available soon but be assured it will be good; a high quality multi-disciplinary meeting with lecturers from home and abroad. Topics covered will include scientific and the clinical aspects of delirium and in between the experts to consult.
Yorkshire in October – see you there!
