There is a paper in the July 5th edition of the New England Journal of Medicine which concludes “Delirium is associated with a significant decline in cognitive ability during the first year after cardiac surgery, with a trajectory characterized by an initial decline and prolonged impairment”.  This is an important paper in a high impact journal.  Note to self: Delirium causes an ”acquired dementia”.
